Long procession of marching sailors seen from upper story of building, looking south along State street, with ships anchored in Bellingham Bay in distance
The photo was taken from the top of L.D. Pike Block on Holly Street, downtown Bellingham, WA. The Henry Hotel (now YMCA) is on the left. Two divisions of the Great White Fleet of the US Navy visited Bellingham Bay in May of 1908. The main event was a parade of 500 sailors marching through town, down Elk (State) Street to Whatcom Creek. Rear Admiral Charles S. Sperry was at the head of the parade.
