Studio portrait of Captain W.B. Knight
Back caption: "Capt. W.B. Knight -- S.S. Catherine D." Knight came to the Puget Sound in 1907. He spent 16 years as master of the Catherine D., a wooden steamer built in 1918 as a freight and passenger vessel for the Pacific American Fisheries' Alaskan trade. The vessel was named for E.B. Deming's granddaughter. It was sold by PAF to the US Navy in 1941. Knight was also port captain for PAF in Bellingham, 1934-1936. He died in 1936 at age 53.
