Back caption: "Catherine D arriving in Bellingham" and "Arriving Bellingham Cather. D." The Catherine D, named for P.A.F. president E.B. Deming's granddaughter, was the flagship of the P.A.F. fleet at 2224 tons, 242' x 41.6' x 24.4' Built in 1918 at P.A.F.'s Deadman's Point Shipyard in South Bellingham, the Catherine D was a passenger freight ship used on runs to Alaska. She could carry 200 passengers and was known to roll. She was sold to the U.S. government during World War II and renamed USS Tatoosh.
