Caption: "Settlers of Whatcom County" Two men and two women seated and one man standing behind them, in front of a log cabin. Back caption: "Ezra Meeker, Phoebe Judson, N.V. Scheffer, Blanket Bill Jarmon" Four of them wear commemorative ribbons; this may have been an early "Old Settlers'" event. Phoebe Judson wears a black dress and hat with a large bow.The fifth person in unidentified. However, according to "Settlers, Structures & Ships on Bellingham Bay" (E. Rosamonde Ellis Van Miert, 2004), this is the 13th Annual Old Settlers' Picnic on August 7, 1908, and the people are William Jarman, standing; left to right, seated: Ezra Meeker, Mrs. Mary F. Tawes, Nicholas Vance Shaffer, Mrs. Mary Frances Lysle.
