- September 1870, v. XLI, No. 244, entitled "The Mediterranean of the Pacific" dealing with the geography and demography of the newly explored Pacific Northwest after the railroad arrived. Contains drawings of Indians, loggers, towns (Port Townsend, Victoria, Seattle, Olympia, Nanaimo) and a map of the Puget Sound.In front of the folder containing the article, its title is written in ink on a sheet of paper addressed to Pacific American Fisheries, 401 Harris Ave., Bellingham, Wash.

- Caption on front in ink: "Chuckanut Sandstone" and "Amsden Clark & Co. Fairhaven." Chunks of sandstone are strewn in front of them. Captain Henry Roeder began operating the sandstone quarry in 1857. It lasted until 1908. Among the buildings built in Bellingham from the quarry's sandstone were/are the Bellingham Bay National Bank, the Roth Apartments, the second Whatcom County Courthouse, the Armory.

- Caption on front in ink: "Pike 1890 Block." The Bellingham Bay National Bank at the northeast corner of State and Holly Streets. This was constructed of Chuckanut sandstone in 1890. The proerty was purchased by Leonard Pike around 1900. The building was occupied by Puget Sound Power & Light for many years. There is an awning on the ground floor of the building in the middle of the block and a sign on a post that says "Drugs." A man stands in the street beside the building.

- Caption on front of negative in ink: "St. Luke's Hospital." Four story brick building with two story wing located at the corner of Jersey Street and Chestnut. Two Model-A (?) autos are parked on the street in the foreground. Founded in 1892, the original St. Luke's was located at Forest and Holly at the Grand Central Hotel site. It was run under the auspices of the Diocese of the Episcopal Church of Western Washington and fostered by St. Paul's Episcopal Church until 1899 when it was turned over to the Methodist-Episcopal Church. In 1895 St Luke's moved into its own building at Jersey and Chestnut Streets. In 1989 St. Joseph Hospital had acquired St. Luke's and merged the two hospitals so there no longer was a choice in Bellingham between a Catholic and Protestant hospital.

- Built under Public Works Administration and Federal Works Agency programs of the New Deal in the Art Deco style. Begun in 1938, it was dedicated on January 4, 1940. Two stories with ten two story windows across the front it has three entrance doors in the center front.

- Negative of photo gb3045. May be under the aegis of the Emergency Fleet Corp. that operated during WWI. A crowd of well-dressed men, women and children stand and sit on the deck below the ship. A few people stand on the deck of the ship looking down at the crowd. Banners fly from above the bow and American flags are fastened at right angles to one another at the top of the bow.
