Daughter of Hon. Edward Eldridge - later member of the Constitution Convention. Description: Sign over entrance reads: "NO ADMITTANCE--All persons not employees are forbidden to enter this mine except upon written permit from the general office and with a guide -- Blue Canyon Coal Mining Co." A second sign to the right of the first reads "March 19th 1896 -- Gas in 16 other places OK --RC." Blue Canyon Coal Mine, at the southeast end of Lake Whatcom, operated from 1892 until 1920.

Back caption: "T. W. Gillette, at Lake Padden." In 1905, T. W. Gillette was President and General Manager of Fairhaven City Water and Power Company until his sudden death, at age 72, on April 10, 1921. He lived at 1614 Larrabee Avenue with his wife and Frederick K. Gillette. Frederick served until 1922 as Secretary of the company.

Title: Dead Man's Point

Description: Caption: "Dead Man's Point." On the beach in the foreground is a diesel powered pile driver mounted on a barge and anchored to the beach. Adjacent to the pile driving barge is another, smaller barge loaded with lumber. Seward of the smaller barge is a long, low boat. In the distance is a ridge of land that ends in a clif at the shore's edge. Below this ridge are several buildings which may be houses. Behind the ridge, in the far distance is a hill that has trees at the top and houses thick in the cleared areas.
