1937-06 ----------xxxxx---------- Board of Trustees Minutes - June 1937 - Page 1 ----------xxxxx---------- MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES June 21, 1937 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the College on Wednesday June 21, 1937, at 4 P.M. Those present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Mr. Verne Branigin, Secretary, Mr. Steve Saunders, and President C. H. Fisher. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. BIDS RECEIVED FOR BLEACHERS The following bids were received for bleachers according to specifications prepared by Bebb and Gould, Architects, and submitted to the Board of Trusteesl NAME 7 Rows 8 Rows 9 Rows John W. Graham Company, representing the Medart Manufacturing Company submitted the lowest bid. Bebb and Gould reported on their investigation of bleachers and recommended that the contract be awarded to the lowest bidder, the John W. Graham Company for the Medart bleachers. After careful discussion, upon motion it was agreed that the recommendation of the architects be accepted, and that the contract be awarded to the John W. Graham Company for eight (8) rows of the Medart bleachers at a cost of Fifty-Two Hundred (5200.24) dollars and twenty-four cents. LOCKERS AND PADLOCKS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION BUILDING Upon motion it was agreed that the Purchasing Division at Olympia be asked to secure bids on the necessary lockers and padlocks to be used in the Men's Department of the Physical Education Building. When this information is secured a request will be made that the Governor release funds to cover the cost submitted by the lowest bidder. REPORT ON STUDENT LOAN FUND Figures were submitted on receipts and disbursements from the Student Loan Fund from December 31, 1931 to December 31, 1936. The disbursements included the secretary's salary, postage, supplies, the cost of auditing, and also the purchase price of property, Thirteen Hundred and One ($ 1301.50) Dollars and fifty cents. The net gain over the five-year period was Eighteen Hundred and Eighty-Eight ($ 1888.27) Dollars and twenty-seven cents. WALLS AND CEILING OF SWIMMING POOL TO BE PAINTED Upon recommendation of Bebb and Gould it was agreed that when it is possible during the summer the walls and ceiling of the swimming pool should be painted. SOLICITATION OF HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS BY ELLENSBURG IN OUR TERRITORY A report was submitted showing that a representative of the Central Washington College of Education had been soliciting High School seniors at Anacortes, Sedro Woolley, and Mount Vernon in Skagit County, and at Monroe, Snohomish, Arlington, Marysville, and Everett in Snohomish County. It was thought that this may be a subject for discussion at our next Joint Board meeting. DISTRIBUTION OF INSURANCE IN A WIDER AREA In accordance with a policy of the Board of Trustees to distribute the insurance held by the College more widely in the territory served by the institution, upon motion it was agreed that the Automobile Indemnity Insurance, which is now due, should be given to Mr. W. Platt of the Science Department was granted a leave of absence from September 1937 to June 1938. Miss Platt is to report for duty again in the summer session of 1938. Mildred V. Moffatt, Teacher in the Third Grade of the Training School, is resigning to retire from teaching. Miss Moffatt has served on the staff of the Training School since 1918. The Board of Trustees expressed appreciation for her fine service during the nineteen years that she has been here. Nell Bryant, Assistant Nurse, is resigning to pursue further study at the University of Washington.
