1940-11 ----------xxxxx---------- Board of Trustees Minutes - November 1940 ----------xxxxx---------- 379 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES November 19, 1940. The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday November 19, 1940, at 3:30 P.M. in the President's office. Those present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Mr. Verne Branigin, Secretary, Mr. Steve Saunders, and President W. W. Haggard. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. WATERPROOFING WALLS OF LIBRARY BUILDING COMPLETED The waterproofing work on the south and east walls of the library building by the Masons' Supply Company of Portland, Oregon, has been completed and accepted. Payment in full was approved for the contract entered into with the Masons' Supply Company in April of this year. RESIGNATION OF JOHN RINDAL, CARPENTER John Rindal, carpenter and cabinet maker, who has been employed on the staff for thirty-three years, since October 1,1907, resigned on October 31,1940. Mr. Rindal is seventy-two years of age and is not in good health. KASPER AAGAARD, CARPENTER AND CABINET MAKER, EMPLOYED It was agreed that Kasper Aagaard, carpenter and cabinet maker, be engaged at a salary of one hundred twenty-five ($ 125.00) dollars per month to succeed John Rindal who retired on October 31, 1940. PURCAHSE APPROVED OF EQUIPMENT FOR SCIENCE DEPARTMENT Tne sum of nine thousand one hundred ($ 9,100.00) dollars was allowed in the budget for the present biennium, 1939-41, and approved by the legislature for the purchase of mechanical and scientific equipment. To date no equipment has been purchased out of this fund. purchse was approved for as much equipment for the Science Department as the fund for operations will allow at this time. PRESIDENT'S OFFICES TO BE PAINTED painting the walls and ceilings of the President's offices (three rooms: 215-16), to be done during the Thanksgiving recess, was approved. CHANGES IN HEATING SYSTEM AT PRESIDENT'S RESIDENCE APPROVED To provide a better circulation of warm air, it was agreed that some changes be made in the heating system at the President's residence, 519 Oak street, and the expenditure of funds for this purpose be approved.
