1946-02 ----------xxxxx---------- Board of Trustees Minutes - February 1946 ----------xxxxx---------- 519 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES February 5, 1946. A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday evening, February 5, 1946, at 8:30 o'clock, in the President's office. Those present were Mr. Verne Branigin, chairman, Mr. Joseph T. Pemberton, secretary, and President W. W. Haggard. REPORT OF FIRE DEPARTMENT ON GREY GABLES RESIDENCE A letter was read from Chief J. E. Bull of the city fire department regarding changes that should be made at Grey Gables, if this house is to be used as a residence hall for college students. The report recommends that two fire escapes be installed, and that the front doors should be made to swing outward. ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOR INSTALLATION OF WAR HOUSING UNITS Mr. John Paul Jones, architect, has been requested by Mr. G. H. Woolfall, engineer of the Federal Public Housing Authority, to prepare drawings for the 30 war housing units to be installed on the Sehome School grounds. Mr. Jones has submitted the tentative cost of his services for these drawings. Since the fee Mr. Jones is charging appears to be too high, it was agreed that a conference be arranged with Mr. Jones to discuss the fee with him on February 7, when he is expected in Bellingham. CONTRACTS FOR WAR HOUSING UNITS President Haggard was authorized to sign contracts incident to the war housing project. REQUEST FOR RELEASE OF FUNDS The President was authorized to request Governor Wallgren for the release of $ 77,866.21 for the heating plant improvement, from funds reappropriated for this project in the last session of the legislature. APPOINTMENT OF ANN RICE GARCIA The appointment was approved of Ann Rice Garcia, as assistant in the Registrar's office, beginning January 2, 1946; salary, $ 155.00 per month. ADJOURNMENT JOSEPH T.
