Associated Students Board Minutes - transcript for (year-month) 1921-09 Page 01_116 (volume 01 page 116) 1921-09-13 - Board of Control Meeting. Meeting called to order by the President. Mr. Bond absent. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Appreciations for the Business Manager of the messenger for 1921-22 were received from W. O. E. Radcliff. Ethil Trueblood. Roscoe Altman and Wade Bristol, applications were read. Verbal applications were received from Ralph Miller and Richard Inge. Discussion thereof. Moved and seconded that Mr. Bristol and Mr. Altman be called before the Board for an interview before chasing the Business Manager. Carried. Miss Collin was appointed to see Miss Edens in regard to the ability of Vida Sendder as Editor of the Messenger for the fall quarter. Suggestion made that the Annual Mixer be held Saturday evening, September 17th. Esther Cook was appointed to obtain the date from the Dean. Meeting called to order by President. Mr. Bond absent. Minutes read and corrected. Mr. Bristol and Mr. Altman interviewed in regard to their experience on previous school papers. Applications for Business Manager of the Messenger were received and read from Miss Spaight and Miss Newman. It was moved and seconded that Mr. Altman be appointed Business Manager be so appointed on probation for one month. Carried. It was moved and seconded that any students appointed Business Manager be so appointed on probation and temporarily until they have proven themselves successful. Carried. Mt. Kolstad suggested a system of training students as Assistant Business Managers for the Messenger. Discussion. Esther Cook reported that the date (Sept. 17th) for the school mixer had been allowed by the Dean. Adjournment. Mrs. Edna Anstett, Sec'y. 1921-09-19 - Board of Control Meeting. Meeting called to order by the President. All present. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Mr. Altman submitted a report of the bids on the Messenger as follows: 1921-09-13 - Miss Collin was nominated and unanimously elected Vice-President of the Board of Control. The motion was made and carried that the Board of Control purchase a new mirror for the Association room. The motion was made and carried that a spare be reserved in the messenger for Board of Control Notes. The motion was made and carried that a Special Board of Control Meeting be called Wednesday. Minutes of the previous meeting read and corrected. The following bills were allowed: Royal Dairy 85 Bricks Ice Cream $38.25 Wheeler's Bakery 40 doz. Doughnuts 6.40 Woolworth's 500 spoons and plates 5.00 Anstett Printing Co. 1200 Blue Books 185.00 Ferrier-Magnuson Tennis letters etc. 3.20 Mr. Fisher and Mr. Bristol were nominated for Student Representative of the Board of Control. Nominations were closed. Motion was made and carried that this matter be postponed until a later date. It was moved and seconded that a committee be appointed to see 1921-09-19 - Griggs Stationary and Printing for 1200 copies. 4 page issue $50 8 " " $100 Union Printing Co. 5 column paper $56.50 8 page issue $61.00 Anstett Printing Co. 4 page issue 34.00 8 " " 55.50 5 column paper 44.50 Irish Printing Co. 1200 copies 4 page issue 32.00 8 " " 53.00 5 columns 42.00 Discussion thereof. It was moved and seconded that the contract for the Messenger (1921-22) be let to the Irish Printing Co. Carried. Motion was made and carried that Miss be appointed Editor of the Messenger for the Fall quarter. An application for Editor of the Messenger was received from Olga K Bronton. Read and discussed. It was moved and seconded that sufficient money from the Athletic Fund be paid into the Messenger Fund to clear the debt owed to the union Printing Co. Carried. It was moved and seconded that the Messenger be printed as an 8 page, 4 column paper. (subject to change.) Carried. Adjournment, Mrs. Edna Anstett, Sec'y. Page 01_119 (volume 01 page 119) 1921-09-27 - Mr. Carver about Mr. Fisher and M. Bristol and to see if he has any other boy student to suggest for this position. Carried. The requisition for office supplies made by Mr. Altman was allowed. It was moved and seconded that the time of the Regular Board of Control Meeting be changed from Tuesday noon to Monday noon of each week. Carried. It was moved and seconded that the appointment of Funds be made: Funds Athletic .75 General.30 Messenger .45 Debate Fund is taken out of the General fund when needed. Adjournment.
