Ferhat Pasha Mosque - Republika Srpska, Bosnia & Herzegovina
This photo shows the painted dome of the mosque. This mosque was destroyed in the 1990s during the ethnic cleansing of Bosniak Muslims by Serbs in the wars of the 1990s. It was my cohorts first stop on our week-long excursion dedicated to learning about and honoring the more than 8,000 muslim victims killed in the Genocide. The mosque was rebuilt in 2001 and now signifies the resilience of Bosniak Muslims and their refusal to be erased.
