Israel, South Africa and the Jim Crow South: Resisting Apartheid
The presentation will cover the origins, motives, successes and inspirations behind the non-violent global, Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) human rights movement and the underpinning ethical principles that connect it to the struggle against apartheid South Africa and the Civil Rights movement in the US. The ethical responsibility of Americans in breaking the links of complicity with Israel's regime of occupation, colonization and apartheid are highlighted. About the Lecturer: Omar Barghouti, Palestinian human rights activist and co-founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights.
