The Unfurling Frond
The Unfurling Frond is a collection of essays, hybrid-texts, poetry, and images that explores place and time. The collection wrestles with the concept of what it means to transform through time in relationship through a transnational narrative. The central question of this work is how can I call New Zealand home and what are the complications that arise in the process? In the text the layering of form, imagery, and language simulates the way distance and time create the space for becoming and belonging. Throughout, this compilation examines how a sense of home and history intermingle to create a sense of rootedness.
