170 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 3, 1927 There was a meeting of the
Board of Trustees held at the Normal School on December 3, 1927, at 7:30
P.M. Those present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Mr. Walter B.
Whitcomb, Mr. Noah Shakespeare, President C. H. Fisher, and the Secretary.
Mr. Carl F. Gould was also present at the meeting. The meeting was called
to receive bids for metal books stacks, painting and decorating, furniture,
cabinet work, and light fixtures for the new library building. BASIC BIDS
RECEIVED FOR EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS OF NEW LIBRARY: The following basic
bids, without alternates, were received: Metal Book Stacks: McKee &
Wentworth $ 5,274.00 Dando Equipment Company 5,602.00 Union Printing

the Board of Trustees held at the Normal School on December 8, 1927, at 3
P.M. Those present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Mr. Walter B.
Whitcomb, Mr. Noah Shakespeare and President C. H. Fisher. Mr. Carl F.
Gould was also present at the meeting. MR. GOULD MAKES REPORT ON BIDS: Mr.
Gould made a careful study of the bids which had been submitted on
furniture, cabinet work, painting and decorating, metal book stacks, and
lighting fixtures. The Board of Trustees was guided largely by this report
in making the award of contracts. This report is on file in the President's
office. CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR LIBRARY BUILDING: Upon motion it was agreed
that contracts be awarded as follows: Furniture: Washington Parlor
Furniture Co. of Tacoma $ 16,909.15 Cabinet Work: Everett Sash & Door Co.
3,773.00 painting & Decorating: A. Weissenborn Decorating Co. of Seattle
5,460.00 Metal Book Stacks: Union Printing Co. of Bellingham representing
The Art Metal Construction Co. 4,856.00 Lighting Fixtures: H. E. Gleason
Company of Seattle 7,000.00 ORDERS FOR ADDITIONAL EXPENDITURES ON LIBRARY
APPROVED: Upon motion it was agreed that C. A. Conlee, agent, be authorized
to purchase the rear portions of lots 36 and 37 of Lysle's Acre Tracts at a
purchase price of one thousand dollars ($ 1000) each. This property is to
be used for a new athletic field. The President was authorized to have A.
R. Campbell describe the portions of the lots to be purchased. upon motion
