181 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF AUGUST 3, 1928 A meeting of the Board of
Trustees was held in the office of Dr. Kirkpatrick, Herald Building, on
August 3rd, 1928 at 4 P.M. Those present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick,
Chairman, Walter B. Whitcomb and President C. H. Fisher. LIBRARY BUILDING
ACCEPTED FROM C. H. MARTIN, GENERAL CONTRACTOR Upon motion by Mr. Whitcomb,
seconded by Dr. Kirkpatrick, it was agreed that the library building
accepted front C. F. Martin, General Contractor. CLAIMS FILED AGAINST C. F.
MARTIN, GENERAL CONTRACTOR The following is a complete list of claims filed
against C. F. Martin, General Contractor, together with the names and
addresses of the claimants and and dates of filing claims. June 20, 1928

was reed that the advice of the Attorney General of the State of Washington
would be followed regarding the claims filed against C. F. Martin, General
Contractor. Correspondence with the Attorney General regarding these claims
is on file in the President's Office. Uoon motion the meeting was

182 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF AUGUST 23, 1928 A metting of the Board of
Trustees was held at the Normal School on August 23rd, 1928 at 8 P.M. Those
present were Dr. W. D. Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Walter B. Whitcomb, Noah
Shakespeare, and President C. H. Fisher ELECTION OF NEW TEACHERS FOR
1928-1929: Upon motion it was agreed that tile following teachers be
elected to the faculty and their salaries approved for the year 1928-1929:
Lucy Kangley, Eng1ish $ 2500 (4 quarters) Oscar O. Winther, Social Science
2000 (3 quarters) Edna T. Barker, Public School Music 2400 (4 quarters)
Helen S. Dozier, Physical Education for Women 1900 (42 weeks) Grace
Sullivan, Swimming and Sports 1900 (42 weeks) Cecile Evans, Librarian of
Children's Literature 2700 (42 weeks) E. Wilma Trent, Supervisor in City
Schools 2500 (42 weeks) Calista Miller, Training Teacher in Sixth Grade
2500 (42 weeks) Jessie H. Merchant, Training Teacher, Seventh Grade 2400
(42 weeks) CORRESPONDENCE WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE REGARDING THE
MARTIN CASE: President Fisher presented the correspondence between him and
the Attorney General's Office regarding final payment to C. F. Martin,
General Contractor, and the claims that have been filed against C. F.
Martin. It was agreed that the Board withhold the amount of $ 24,5l8.28,
which is still due Mr. Martin, in accordance with the letter from the
Attorney General dated June 30th, 1928, final payment to be made in such
manner at such a time as the Attorney General's Office may advise.
PROPOSITION FROM C. C. BAUGHAN REGARDING STUDENTS' CO-OP The President
presented a letter from C. C. Baughan dated May 7th in which he make a
proposition regarding the purchase of the Students' Cooperative Store. The
same proposition was presented to the faculty at a meeting held May 9th,
1928 and to the Board of Control of the Students' Associaton at, a meeting
held June 27th, 1928. The faculty and the Board of Control voted not to
accept the proposition. The Board of Trustees approved of the action taken
by the faculty and the Board of Control of the Students' Association. Bills
were audited and allowed as follows: Voucher Checks No. 10887 - 11429, Inc.
Voucher Checks No. 4802 - 5137, Inc. (Edens Hall) State Vouchers No. 287 -
439, Inc. Upon motion the meeting was adjourned. SECRETARY CHAIRMAN
