Caption: "The Claremont of the Pacific" and "The Steamer "Beaver" was the first steam vessel to plough through the water of the Pacific Ocean…The Beaver was the first vessel to run between Sitka, Alaska, and Puget Sound, and was in commission for a period of fifty-three years until finally wrecked near the entrance of the harbor at Vancouver, B.C."
