Ship Carleton Ashore, December 27, 1904
Back caption: "Ship Carleton Ashore. Dec 27, 1904." A shoreline view of a three-masted sailing cargo vessel grounded upright near shore. On December 30, 1904, the ship "Carleton" was resting on the mud flats a quarter of a mile above Squalicum Creek. High winds and the sticky bottom of Bellingham Bay thwarted the effortsof the tugs "Pioneer" and "Wanderer" to pull her off the beach.
