Street view from above of the John Stenger residence, overlooking Bellingham Bay from Prospect street, Bellingham, WA, and future site of Post Office
Back caption: "1961 - Post Office site - John STenger residence." John Stenger was in charge of the Colony Mill and built the house in the picture in 1889 on four acres on Prospect Street. It was a white two story, clapboard, cross-gabled house with first story bay window and nicely landscaped at 315 Prospect Street. It was torn down in 1963 to build the post office. At that time Stenger's daughter, Mrs. Cecil K. Rinehart lived in the house. Several 1950's vintage cars are parked on each side of the street. In the background are log booms, industrial buildings, possibly the Roth apartments, Bellingham Bay and Lummi Island.
