Filling machine used in salmon canning
The filling machine was invented in Astoria, Oregon by A.H. Moore. It cut and compressed fish into a box and then into one pound cans at a rate of 250 cans per minute. Salt was dropped into each open can as it passed beneath the salter on the machine. The machine in this photo is not operating but cans are visible in the chute above it. Used by Pacific American Fisheries.
