Roeder House at Elm and Monroe, Bellingham, Washington
Although unidentified on the photo, this is the "Gothic Cottage" of Henry and Elizabeth Roeder, designed by James Taylor and built in 1858 at Elm and Monroe Streets, near where they built their mansion "Elmheim" in 1896. The cottage was L shaped with a two story front gable, a one story side gable, and a lean-to on the back. There were twelve pane windows (six over six) and no shutters. There was scrollwork along the gables and porches. A picket fence ran around the property. A large tree stands in front of the house. In this picture the house looks dilapidated.
