Fairhaven, Washington, Pacific Coast Terminus of the Great Northern Railway, Looking East
Caption printed on front: "Fairhaven, Washington, Pacific Coast Terminus of the Great Northern Railway, Looking East." Looking toward Fairhaven and South Hill from what is now the train station ferry terminal. In the immediate foreground a dock extends into the water with a small building at the end that says Fairhaven Land co. on its roof. To the right of the dock, at the water's edge, is an open area with what appear to be wooden pallates scattered about, as well as several carriages pulled by horses. A boat sits askew at the water's edge. There are several ships in the harbor beyond the dock. The railroad runs across the middle ground of the photo. There are many houses and churches on South Hill, but no trees. Taylor, Knox, Harris, Mckenzie Avenues are visible and possibly the Fairhaven Hotel (smudged) and the Mason Block, what is now Sycamore Square. Mt. Baker rises in the distance over South Hill.
