- The Biology Department Shell Collection is comprised of hundreds of shells from around the world that were collected, identified, and donated by various faculty, staff, and community members. A significant portion of the shells were donated by June Ross, biology professor emeritus, whose teaching career at Western spanned 37 years. The collection has been digitized in order to make it accessible to a broader audience. We hope that it will be used as a reference and a teaching tool for Biology students, the Western community, and the general public. The shells themselves are stored in the biology department and can be checked out with permission. Due to constantly evolving nomenclature, and the fact that some of these shells were identified many years ago, please contact the biology department at firstname.lastname@example.org if you believe there are errors.
