- This machinery is possibly a vaccuum seamer used in canning salmon.

- Back caption: "This picture was taken July or August 1897 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Watkins at Geneva, Lake Whatcom, Wash. We had enjoyed a lovely ride on a gaily decorated barge towed by a small steamer, to the head of the Lake and returned. Family refreshments were served and all entertainment was beautifully arranged. - Back caption: "Lottie on Peanuts - taken in front of the old house (Capt. Roeder's old house) on Elm St. She was about a yr 1/2 old. House in background where Lottie & Charles Roth lived before moving into Roeder mansion." Lottie Roeder Roth was born October 25, 1864. She married C. I. Roth in 1885. Her two volume "History of Whatcom County" was published in 1926.

- A low, wooden building bearing sign "Whatcom County Implement Co." sits at intersection of unpaved roads
- This building was located on the southwest corner where Champion, Grand and Magnolia intersect. They were doing business at this location from 1905 to 1917, after which they moved one block east to Commercial Street. Several advertisements are tacked to the building: "For 100 years FRISHMUTH has been making all kinds of tobacco" and "Drink Coca Cola" and "Old Dutch Cleansers." Visible to the left of the building is the American Reveille Bulding, constructed in 1909 by the publisher of the Seattle Times, renamed the Douglas Block in 1927.
