The proerty was purchased by Leonard Pike around 1900. The building was occupied by Puget Sound Power & Light for many years. There is an awning on the ground floor of the building in the middle of the block and a sign on a post that says "Drugs." A man stands in the street beside the building.

- Caption on front of negative in ink: "St. Luke's Hospital." Four story brick building with two story wing located at the corner of Jersey Street and Chestnut. Two Model-A (?) autos are parked on the street in the foreground. Founded in 1892, the original St. Luke's was located at Forest and Holly at the Grand Central Hotel site. It was run under the auspices of the Diocese of the Episcopal Church of Western Washington and fostered by St. Paul's Episcopal Church until 1899 when it was turned over to the Methodist-Episcopal Church. In 1895 St Luke's moved into its own building at Jersey and Chestnut Streets. In 1989 St. Joseph Hospital had acquired St. Luke's and merged the two hospitals so there no longer was a choice in Bellingham between a Catholic and Protestant hospital.

Ten photos on display relating to the infamous con man Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, known for his connection to organized crime in Colorado, the Northwest and Alaska. The name "Soapy" came from his soap bar swindles where he conned unsuspecting buyers into thinking they might win bug bucks that were supposedly wrapeed around the soap bars. He lived from 1860 until 1898 when he was shot dead in a gun fight in Skagway.

- Two have 1918 on their top rims; on the others the dates are not legible. In the canning process, rows of cans on dolleys were rolled into these pressure cookers, also known as Retorts. Although not identified as such these are probably being used at a Pacific American Fisheries cannery.

- Looking beyond is a street going up a hill that probably is 15th St. on South Hill; several prominent Fairhaven buildings could be Wardner Castle, Sacred Heart Church, the Carnegie Library; however the photo may be reversed since the locations of these buildings does not seem quite correct, or this may be an entirely different place.

- Description
- Elmheim, the Victorian mansion built by Henry Roeder at Elm and Monroe Streets. It was finished in 1898; Elizabeth Roeder died in 1897 and Henry in 1902. Roeder descendants lived in the mansion until it became a bed and breakfast inn. It was torn down in 1956 to make way for apartments. See also photos gb2677 and gb2897.
