- Description
- Emile Reynaud (1844-1918) invented the praxinoscope that enabled the projection of images on a screen, creating the illusion of movement - an early form of animation. His optical theater, invented in 1889, was a big praxinoscope, a true precursor to film.

Side" and on front in ink: "Corbett" A large group of men wearing suits and many wearing or holding hats, stand several deep with seventeen kneeling in front of the rest (including four young boys). They stand in front of two wooden, one story buildings and a Model T or Model A automobile. A dirt road is in the foreground. The Washington Club was a men's club that existed from the late 1920's until the 1960's; weekly meetings were at the Bellingham Hotel, 119 N. Commercial.

- The photo was taken from the top of L.D. Pike Block on Holly Street, downtown Bellingham, WA. The Henry Hotel (now YMCA) is on the left. Two divisions of the Great White Fleet of the US Navy visited Bellingham Bay in May of 1908. The main event was a parade of 500 sailors marching through town, down Elk (State) Street to Whatcom Creek. Rear Admiral Charles S. Sperry was at the head of the parade. See also GB1463
