- Temple in the hills of Northern Thailand
- Date
- 2019-07-16
- Description
- This ancient temple is up in the hill tribes of Thailand. I stayed in a Karen hill tribe for a few days while I was abroad. This area is incredible and so different from other Thai culture I have experienced. This temple is beautiful and I got to visit it during buddhist holiday.

- Don't Underestimate the Power of Nature
- Date
- 2019-07-16
- Description
- This picture was taken during a sailing route between St. Barths and out next destination, after an incredible rain storm. The rain was comparable to buckets of water, and the splashed of salt water were unavoidable. This experience was one that I could truly say felt spiritual as we glided past islands at a time. As soon as the cloud dumped what felt like all the water they could hold, the sun broke through the clouds and my exhausted body for counteracting the nature with our sails, collapsed on the Bow and soaked up the sun. now looking straight up at the mast, the sails were perfectly caught by the wind and the sun was stunningly tucked behind the reaming rain clouds. But in this shot, hides a small little silver lining gradient, and in this single shot, my whole experience seems captured in time.

- "Karen Tribe" - Thailand
- Date
- 2019-07-15
- Description
- This moment took place while I was in the hill tribe village. I was completely mesmerized by this woman - her traditional beads, her head covering (which I learned stems from ancient Burmese traditions, as this village is very near to Burma), her traditional handwoven dress... It is inspiring to see how simply others live. It is inspiring to see the community that exists in these areas. What a privilege!

- Great Buddha of Kamakura
- Date
- 2019-07-13
- Description
- Japan. The photo is of the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Professor Tomasi took us to see some of the ancient temples of Kamakura some dating as far back as the 1200s. I took this photo before I saw the full temple. The buddha towers over the whole mountain watching anyone who gets close enough to approach. Intimidating but also inspiring.

- Taken by the Current - Caribbean Sea
- Date
- 2019-07-10
- Description
- Off of the boat within the Caribbean Sea, we did a handful of diving. When moored along the coast line of Saba, the current was so ripping that most of our diving was letting the current take us and simply directing the angle it took you at. This selfie was on a drift dive, so content with letting the ocean's power move my body throughout the dive site. The power you can feel from being surrounded underwater among incredible life, is one that is hard to top. This photo forever captures a feeling in time, that I can never, and will never, forget.

- This is a photo of a street performer dressed as a kappa. We came across him at an Ocean Day Festival and he came right up to us with his tongue. Kappa are a Japanese folk creature that live in the water and drown/eat kids so the kids (and us) would squeal and run away before coming back to get another fun scare.

- Cocos en la playa!
- Date
- 2019-07-05
- Description
- This is a photo of me discovering coconuts on the beach of Playa Uvita. The landmark I was visiting is known as the Uvita Whale Tail because it is a natural outcrop that you can see from space at low tide and it resembles the tail of a whale. It was an amazing time standing in the middle of the whale tail. Waves wash onto the shore from both sides and then when the tide gets high enough, the waves crash into each other and eventually engulf the landmark. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica, if not the entire world. Our program we were studying was Global Entrepreneurship and innovation in the social sector. Our final week was an independent study week and I chose to study the unique market of hostels in Costa Rica, in particular, the Flutterby house located in Uvita ten minutes from where I took this photo. It is a hot spot for tourists to see the landmark and they often stay at the Flutterby house for its nice amenities, cheap surfboard rentals and prime location near some of the best surf on most beautiful beach in the world.

- Fjordkajakk - Hardangerfjord, Norway
- Date
- 2019-05-16
- Description
- My kayak felt so small compared to the Hardangerfjord. With a guide and one friend, we spent a day kayaking one of the furthest inlets of the majestic landscape. When we were making the three-kilometer crossing of the fjord to return to Eidfjord in the evening, the water got completely still and reflected the sharp landscape like a mirror. Of all the incredible things that I did in my year abroad, I don't know if any of them top this quietly epic moment.

- Lake Bled
- Date
- 2019-04-17
- Description
- To me, this photo represents both the amazing architecture and natural beauty of Slovenia. Nestled just south of the Julian Alps and an hour north of the capital of Ljubljana, this is the only naturally-occurring island in the country. An imposing castle perched on a rock outcrop overlooking the lake and some good (steep) hiking in the woods coupled with the charming island church solidified Bled as one of my favorite places that I visited. Legend has it that your wishes will come true if you ring the church bell three times...

- Morning in Jemaa el-Fna: Morocco
- Date
- 2019-02-16
- Description
- Jemaa el-Fna is known as the "busiest square in Africa," surrounded by a maze of souks, filled with snake charmers, merchants hawking wares, tourists, locals, motorcycles and movement. In the morning however, the still square was empty and this fruit vendor was setting up his stall as the morning call to prayer rung out of speakers all around the Red City of Marrakesh. A small moment of daily life isolated from the usual hustle and bustle of the city.

- This photo was taken while I was discussing with these men how modern fishing practices has greatly affect the Moklen culture and their consumerism. They spend 5 hours in the heat of the day making replacement squid traps because others are ran over by big vessels or stolen by smaller fishing boats. This is a time consuming job that take focus away from other traditions that are also being affected by globalization.

- Home - The Azores, Portugal
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- I knew that when I decided to study abroad in Portugal that a trip to the Azores would be obligatory, as my great-grandparents left these islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean nearly a century ago. I was hit hard by emotions as I stepped off the plane. I was where my ancestors had lived, where they had laughed, where they had loved. I was walking in the same fields they had played in and were buried in. A place that should have seemed unfamiliar was the opposite of that; I was home.

- Climbing Pico, Portugal's highest peak at over 7,700 feet, wasn't easy. What was easy was appreciating the boundless views provided from the summit. The azure waters of the Atlantic surrounded me, and I knew there would just never quite be another view like this.

- Las Salinas Grandes, Argentina
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- This photo was taken in Las Salinas Grandes in northern Argentina. I had the opportunity to travel with a group of international students, including the friends I made at my university (Universidad de Palermo), to this amazing place. Las Salinas Grandes is the perfect place to take pictures based on the illusion of perspective. It is also located 3,450 meters above sea level and do not be fooled by the short sleeves, it was 50 degrees outside!

- Everything Happens for a Reason - Paris, France
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- This photo was taken when we were on a boat tour along the river through Paris to sight see with my program. As we were passing under bridges and the brick walls along the river, I spotted this spray painted on a wall. "Everything happens for a reason" has always been a motto that I lived by and that was instilled in me from my dad. It's a phrase that reminds me there is something to learn from every situation and to be present in what is happening, right now. When we were on the boat tour and happened to pass this spray painted on a random wall, I was hit with a wave of emotion. Seeing this quote was a reminder to me that my experience abroad is pushing my comfort zone and pushing me further than I thought I could go for a reason. There is truly something new to learn everyday and growth comes from hard times. It was a reminder that I have this opportunity for a reason and to make the most of it.

- Green City - Tokyo, Japan
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- The Imperial Palace Garden in the middle of Tokyo. It really struck me how in such a huge, dense urban city as Tokyo could have these pockets of nature. It was really quiet and peaceful in the park, but you could still look up and see tall buildings in any direction. I really admired the respect for nature and allowing room for these green spaces.

- Phang Nga - Thailand
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- This is Yai Jem, a Thai grandma who inspired me in many ways. Despite losing much of her and her husbands belongings in a tsunami in 2004, she was constantly making sure I was fed, OK, happy, whatever I needed she made sure I had three. I felt the love she had to share with those around her, she did this for everyone, she made sure everyone had their food before she helped herself.
