Title: Sounds of the Rainforest

Description: On a night hike for a field study class at La Selva, I ran into many red eyed tree frogs. These frogs are a national symbol for Costa Rica and difficult to spot on the wild. I was very lucky to see as many as I did, especially this mating pair. The photo was shot on my phone camera with a little teamwork to get the flashlight lighting perfect. Thanks to the frogs for being very patient with me and showing off their beautiful colors.

Title: On the Edge, Galway, Ireland

Description: This is when I was sitting on the edge of Cliffs of Moher looking at the Atlantic Ocean and the Cliffs in front of me. The Cliffs of Moher had been on my bucket list for years and I got to fulfill my wish. It had been a long 4 hour bus ride to get to the Cliffs and we had only a limited amount of time to explore their beauty. But this specific moment, where I was sitting on the edge listening to the wind flow through the grass and the waves hit the rocks, made the early morning and the long drive worth it. Although a famous natural landmark, in this moment it felt personal, as if I was part of the cliffs for that split second. I could feel the grass under my hands, I felt the wind through my jacket and somehow I felt so free yet so insignificant at the same time. This moment is one I will cherish from my travels during study abroad, it was a moment of pure and utter peace.

Description: During our trip to Greece we stopped at this bridge just for fun. The bridge was a piece of history from the ottoman period. Bridges like these and many more exist in Greece as sites any passerby can look at and enjoy. Description: During one of our lessons we had a traditional calligrapher come in to teach us. We got to choose a kanji character and he showed us how to write it with the correct stroke order, and then we did it ourselves. I chose the word bird because I like birds. I was really proud of how it turned out!

Description: This picture was taken in City Bell, Argentina. It is the town that my mother grew up in before moving to the United States at 16. Today we still have family living there and I am pictured with my great aunt Blanca, who I surprised when I showed up at her doorstep after not seeing her for five years. She could not believe I had come all that way to study and live so near to her (I'm an hour train ride away). It was hard to keep the secret since it took months of planning but it was worth it!

Title: Umbrella Street - Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

Description: It was the moment I saw the "umbrella street" that I fell in love with the little town of Blagoevgrad where my host university is. When I arrived, it didn't feel like a very developed town and there was lots of graffiti everywhere that I wasn't used to, and that I thought affected the look of the town. The first weekend though, I went shopping and turned to walk down the main street when I had to stop and take in the fun, colorful, and whimsical umbrellas that lined the street spanning the whole town. It was completely unexpected, and at the same time, the perfect touch.

I really enjoy this photo especially since I was in a hurry to take it as my camera had no life to it. When I went back to look at the photo, I was very happy to see this moment frozen in time.
