- Slide with caption in ink: "Soapy Smith Story" and stamped: "Dedman's Photo Shop - Skagway, Alaska" and "Jul 68..." Ten photos on display relating to the infamous con man Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, known for his connection to organized crime in Colorado, the Northwest and Alaska. The name "Soapy" came from his soap bar swindles where he conned unsuspecting buyers into thinking they might win bug bucks that were supposedly wrapeed around the soap bars. He lived from 1860 until 1898 when he was shot dead in a gun fight in Skagway.

- Elmheim, the Victorian mansion built by Henry Roeder at Elm and Monroe Streets. It was finished in 1898; Elizabeth Roeder died in 1897 and Henry in 1902. Bennett came to Whatcom in 1858 from Glasgow, Scotland seeking gold and worked in the Sehome Coal Mine earning enough to purchase the Compton Claim beyond the Eldridge homestead. He was a horticulturist who started the first nursery in Whatcom which was the source of many Whatcom County plants.
