Description: According to "The Great Pacific American Fisheries (IV.A.1) this is a Floating Salmon Trap, circ 1956." This photograph shows the floating trap in place with a lead going back to the shoreline. On the right is a rigging scow where the crew lived. There was a wash area on the lower level with sleeping rooms above. Behind the rigging scow can be seen part of the cannery tender, a boat that serviced the scow and carried the fish from the trap to the canneries." Since salmon swim with the tide, once in the trap they will not swim against the currant to get out.

Description: In the immediate foreground is a craftsman house that is extant at 1912 Mill. Harris and 21st Street intersect beyond it where there is a low building that may be the store that is still there. In the middle ground, 22nd Street is visible going up theh hill crossing what is now the Interurban Trail. Beyond Harris is probably Donovan that runs far to the east, crossing what is I-5 today. It is open field where the Parkway Chateau and Mt. Baker Nursing Home are today. Chuckanut Mountain and other hills are visible in the background.
