Title: Morning in Jemaa el-Fna: Morocco

Description: Jemaa el-Fna is known as the "busiest square in Africa," surrounded by a maze of souks, filled with snake charmers, merchants hawking wares, tourists, locals, motorcycles and movement. In the morning however, the still square was empty and this fruit vendor was setting up his stall as the morning call to prayer rung out of speakers all around the Red City of Marrakesh. A small moment of daily life isolated from the usual hustle and bustle of the city.

I hadn't been able to see the Eiffel Tower light up and I finally was able to go see it and it literally was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen in my life. It reminded me how lucky I am to be able to see this amazing tower that I had dreamed about for years.

Title: Fjordkajakk - Hardangerfjord, Norway

Description: My kayak felt so small compared to the Hardangerfjord. With a guide and one friend, we spent a day kayaking one of the furthest inlets of the majestic landscape. When we were making the three-kilometer crossing of the fjord to return to Eidfjord in the evening, the water got completely still and reflected the sharp landscape like a mirror. Of all the incredible things that I did in my year abroad, I don't know if any of them top this quietly epic moment.

Title: Like Wind in My Sails

Description: This photo was taken after an exam aboard a 45 foot catamaran as I was studying marine biology in the caribbean. Our academics were based around the marine ecosystems that we encountered through out daily diving. It seems that it would be hard to study on a boat while sailing island to island, but as you are surrounded by the nature you are so passionate about, it becomes like second nature to want to know more and more. Not only did we learn about specific marine life and global ecosystems, we learned to sail and sustain ourselves on a sail boat for a month. This humbling experience is one that is hard to articulate, but know that I have a smile on my face the whole time I am writing this.

Description: For the faculty-led trip to La Paz, Mexico our group took a trip to Balandra beach. There it has beautiful white sandy beaches as well as the iconic "mushroom rock." The story goes that someone knocked off the top of the rock and then the government paid to cement it back on so that it wouldn't fall off again.

The Argentine flag was first flown on the other side of the nearby river by its creator, Manuel Belgrano (on February 27, 1812) and this memorial was inaugurated on the anniversary of his death (June 20, 1957). I am pictured here with my grandpa's friend Susana while the Argentine flag flies in the background.

Title: Jhamtse Got Style - India
Date: 2014
Description: This photo was taken right after the Jhamtse Gatsal Children's Community 8th and 9th grade boy's volleyball team, Jhamtse Got Style, found out that they had earned another chance at winning the Lumla volleyball tournament. These boys grew up together at Jhamtse Gatsal, a community, school, and home for over 85 orphaned and abandoned children from the surrounding area, and have been best friends for years. The entire Jhamtse Gatsal community had taken the thirty-minute truck ride to Lumla to watch their team compete, and the boys were overjoyed, though exhausted, to share this victory with their brothers and sisters. As a visitor to this community, it was really striking and joyful to see the community come together to cheer their team on and to celebrate their win.

I had spent the entire weekend walking around Geneva and traveling on my own without people and it was something I had never done before, which was very exciting. This one was taken moments before a downpour that I got caught in but I liked it because the water is so blue and the lighthouse in the middle is a great eye-catcher.
