- A man in a suit and hat, not a worker, stands on the railroad tracks in the foreground. According to "Looking Back" this building was an addition to Roland Onffroy's original salmon cannery established in 1898 in Fairhaven (Bellingham, Washington) and called Franco-American North Pacific Packing. Onffroy later established Pacific American Fisheries there and this building was added after that.

The fourth photo shows the field after the bushes have been cut; ten men stand in the rows, some with arms full of the cuttings. Caption on reverse in pencil: "Parsnip Seed" and "Planting Cabbage"

No firemen are visible. A coating of snow is on the ground. The building appears to be on pilings so may be on a waterfront. It is long and low with wooden siding and has several doorways along the side. Black smoke can be seen at one doorway. A shed-like structure is at the end of the building.
