- Group of buildings on Bellingham waterfront with Lummi Island barely visible across the Bay.
- Date
- 1940-1950
- Description
- Caption stamped on reverse: "Sandison - Photos That Please - Portrait and Commercial Photography - Bellingham, Wash." Railroad tracks are in the immediate foreground; a large parking lot full of cars (1940's vintage) is in the middle ground; beyond that, boat-related buildings and piers and the water. To the right of the parking lot are four buildings, two of which have signs on them that say " Defense Plant...Arsenal of Democracy" and a third building has a small overhang that says "Squalicum Fill" and a sign on the side of the building: "Harwood Fuel Co." Beyond that building a smoke stack emits black smoke. Possibly the location of Mt. Baker Plywood on Roeder Ave. which did not begin operation until after WWII.
