Originally identified as the Normal Dining Hall which provided dining for sixty women and housing for twenty-for women. It was dedicated as Edens Hall in 1908 in honor of one of the first three members of the Board of Trustees. Several copies of photo available in varying sizes. Original inventory # 929. This image may date earlier than 1906 - article in New York Times, August 9, 1902, entitled "Bellingham Bay & British Columbia Railroad Projected Improvements" announced on August 8th, a long tunnel would be built under Hinnigan Pass; the line running into the Cascades foothills would be extended to cross Cascades.

Caption on reverse in pencil: "Larrabee School - 1906 - Harry 5th grade - Joe 6th grade" The students and teachers of Larrabee School standing and sitting at the ornate entrance to the school. The boys are dressed mostly in dark clothes, the girls in light colors. There is a wide age range. There are five teachers (four women, one man) all standing in the top row. This first Larrabee Grade School was built in 1890 and was located between Donovan and Larrabee Avenues and 20th and 21st Streets in Happy Valley. The first Fairhaven High School occupied the upper floors. It was used as a grade school until the present Larrabee Grade School on 18th St. between Larabee and McKenzie was built. The original four story school building with towers, gables, arched entrances was torn down in 1919.
