Title: Las Salinas Grandes, Argentina

Description: This photo was taken in Las Salinas Grandes in northern Argentina. I had the opportunity to travel with a group of international students, including the friends I made at my university (Universidad de Palermo), to this amazing place. Las Salinas Grandes is the perfect place to take pictures based on the illusion of perspective. It is also located 3,450 meters above sea level and do not be fooled by the short sleeves, it was 50 degrees outside!

Title: Rila Monastery

Description: During Orientation Week, one of the first places they took us was Rila Monastery. Despite being so high up in the mountains, we were still surrounded by trees on all sides and it was an incredibly spiritual spot to visit because you felt so close to the heavens. The architecture and the artwork throughout almost felt unreal. I've seen lots of churches in Bulgaria since then, but Rila Monastery holds a special place in my heart.

Title: Umbrella Street - Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

Description: It was the moment I saw the "umbrella street" that I fell in love with the little town of Blagoevgrad where my host university is. When I arrived, it didn't feel like a very developed town and there was lots of graffiti everywhere that I wasn't used to, and that I thought affected the look of the town. The first weekend though, I went shopping and turned to walk down the main street when I had to stop and take in the fun, colorful, and whimsical umbrellas that lined the street spanning the whole town. It was completely unexpected, and at the same time, the perfect touch.

Title: Fjordkajakk - Hardangerfjord, Norway

Description: My kayak felt so small compared to the Hardangerfjord. With a guide and one friend, we spent a day kayaking one of the furthest inlets of the majestic landscape. When we were making the three-kilometer crossing of the fjord to return to Eidfjord in the evening, the water got completely still and reflected the sharp landscape like a mirror. Of all the incredible things that I did in my year abroad, I don't know if any of them top this quietly epic moment.

Description: It was taken from the top of the "Monumento de la Bandera" or "National Flag Memorial". The Argentine flag was first flown on the other side of the nearby river by its creator, Manuel Belgrano (on February 27, 1812) and this memorial was inaugurated on the anniversary of his death (June 20, 1957). I am pictured here with my grandpa's friend Susana while the Argentine flag flies in the background.

Description: This picture was taken in Lanús, Argentina. One of the biggest reasons I wanted to study abroad in Argentina was to see my relatives again and learn more about the country my mother's side of the family is from. My mother moved away when she was 16 but has managed to keep in touch with family in Argentina all these years. Here I am with my grandpa's cousin and her family enjoying a traditional Argentine asado, this is also the last picture taken of my great, great aunt Adela (pictured in the wheelchair) before she passed away. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to study abroad when I did.

Title: What to Bring/Not to Bring Lessons - Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

Description: Prior to coming to Bulgaria, I attended orientations and did research on what was commonly worn by Eastern European citizens because I didn't want to make myself vulnerable while traveling. This meant leaving behind: jean shorts, plaid shirts, my Seahawks jersey and accessories, and my Western gear. Naturally, when I arrived over in Bulgaria and saw the other students with plaid shirts and american football gear, I was a little disheartened. But now I know better for next time. Until then, this little makeshift WWU notebook will have to be enough!

Title: Lake Bled

Description: To me, this photo represents both the amazing architecture and natural beauty of Slovenia. Nestled just south of the Julian Alps and an hour north of the capital of Ljubljana, this is the only naturally-occurring island in the country. An imposing castle perched on a rock outcrop overlooking the lake and some good (steep) hiking in the woods coupled with the charming island church solidified Bled as one of my favorite places that I visited. Legend has it that your wishes will come true if you ring the church bell three times...
