- Of course it's been one of my dreams to go to where Lizzie McGuire performed in her movie. Although I didn't go inside (do you really think I could afford a $30 hiking tour?), it was amazing to be in its presence and to see all of the history in Rome.

- This was the best meal I had, a meal from a restaurant down the street from my apartment. I ate here a couple times, and every time, I just couldn't believe how lucky I was to be there, in Italy, eating pasta. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do something like this again, so I just knew I had to... savor the moment.

- The Edge of Catastrophe - Poas Volcano, Costa Rica

- Poas Volcano is one of Costa Rica's most active volcanoes. I have always been fascinated by the ecosystems surrounding volcanoes, so shortly into the semester I took the opportunity to visit. Poas had been closed for a couple of years due to volcanic activity. The national park was opened for about two months before it erupted once more, a week after I had visited. Seeing an active volcano made me realize the fragility and dependence of life on the environment.
