- This was my absolute favorite part about my trip. During the boat trip on the last two days of our trip our whole group had the opportunity to snorkel with sea lions and a whale shark. It was incredible to be so close to such amazing creatures.

- Between the Breaths - Leeward Islands
- Date
- 2019-07-25
- Description
- As a student here at Western I have found myself studying so hard to reach my goal, but abroad I was able to experience the goal I am after and seemingly rejuvenated my passions to find excitement in continuing on with the daily grind. As a SCUBA diver, it's hard to explain the emotions and thoughts you experience while underwater. Alongside the silence comes a quiet mind, or a place to let your thoughts drift off with ease. In this picture we are diving off if the coast lines of Statia, an island within the Leeward Islands, and ventured to an abandoned anchor. The anchor itself was immovable and forever stagnant, but the life around and atop the anchor encouraged you to take slower and deeper breaths, to stay down a little longer. Each dive brought to my attention how much I adore the lifestyle of diving, and how the path I am chugging along, is surely the right path.

- On the Edge, Galway, Ireland
- Date
- 2019
- Description
- This is when I was sitting on the edge of Cliffs of Moher looking at the Atlantic Ocean and the Cliffs in front of me. The Cliffs of Moher had been on my bucket list for years and I got to fulfill my wish. It had been a long 4 hour bus ride to get to the Cliffs and we had only a limited amount of time to explore their beauty. But this specific moment, where I was sitting on the edge listening to the wind flow through the grass and the waves hit the rocks, made the early morning and the long drive worth it. Although a famous natural landmark, in this moment it felt personal, as if I was part of the cliffs for that split second. I could feel the grass under my hands, I felt the wind through my jacket and somehow I felt so free yet so insignificant at the same time. This moment is one I will cherish from my travels during study abroad, it was a moment of pure and utter peace.

- Kalimera! - Ithaca, Greece
- Date
- 2014
- Description
- A beautiful afternoon on the small waterfront of Kioni village on the island of Ithaca, Greece with one of the many resident boats. The people of Kioni are warm and welcoming, always greeting you with a "Kalimera!" and smiles. The awe-inspiring beauty in simplicity is found every where you go, and it is clear why Odysseus made his famous journey back to his island of Ithaca.

- Like Wind in My Sails
- Date
- 2019-07-17
- Description
- This photo was taken after an exam aboard a 45 foot catamaran as I was studying marine biology in the caribbean. Our academics were based around the marine ecosystems that we encountered through out daily diving. It seems that it would be hard to study on a boat while sailing island to island, but as you are surrounded by the nature you are so passionate about, it becomes like second nature to want to know more and more. Not only did we learn about specific marine life and global ecosystems, we learned to sail and sustain ourselves on a sail boat for a month. This humbling experience is one that is hard to articulate, but know that I have a smile on my face the whole time I am writing this.

- Mushroom Rock at Balandra Beach - Mexico
- Date
- 2014
- Description
- For the faculty-led trip to La Paz, Mexico our group took a trip to Balandra beach. There it has beautiful white sandy beaches as well as the iconic "mushroom rock." The story goes that someone knocked off the top of the rock and then the government paid to cement it back on so that it wouldn't fall off again.

- Taken by the Current - Caribbean Sea
- Date
- 2019-07-10
- Description
- Off of the boat within the Caribbean Sea, we did a handful of diving. When moored along the coast line of Saba, the current was so ripping that most of our diving was letting the current take us and simply directing the angle it took you at. This selfie was on a drift dive, so content with letting the ocean's power move my body throughout the dive site. The power you can feel from being surrounded underwater among incredible life, is one that is hard to top. This photo forever captures a feeling in time, that I can never, and will never, forget.
