Back caption: "This school house was the first in Whatcom County - which was later divided into three counties - now Whatcom, Skagit & San Juan. Miss Isabella Eldridge was the teacher. Daughter of Hon. Edward Eldridge - later member of the Constitution Convention. This was taken in 1874 -- Mrs. Roth's" and stamped: "Clyde Banks - Kodak Finishing - Enlarging - Views - Bellingham, Wash." See also GB1836.
